QES has been providing 'scholarship and care' to young people from Cumbria, North Lancashire and North Yorkshire for well over 400 years. It is an 'outstanding', 'high-performing specialist school' with specialisms in the Performing Arts and Modern Languages both of which contribute to a distinctive ethos and atmosphere.

QES is an 11-18 school of around 1400 students, over 350 of whom are in a vibrant and successful 6th Form offering an extensive range of subjects. Ambitious and forward-looking, QES is a rual school with a strong sense of community based upon traditional values.
